8/27/2007 NSS07 Call for PaperSwitching to serious mode, and totally trailing off various fandoms
The @System association, together with Bitflow (@SystemGroup), is presenting its 5th Net&System Security Convention (NSS). An event concentrating on the latest technologies, solutions and difficulties regarding IT security, bringing together persons from different parts of the IT community -students, professionals, researchers, free lancers, etc. Net&System Security 2007 will take place in Pisa/Italy at the Palazzo dei Congressi on November 27th, and will last the entire day. This year's speakers include -but are not limited to- experts from Cisco Systems, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Microsoft, Clusit, aipsi, CNR (the National Research Council), the Computer Science Department and the IT, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Departmment of Pisa Universty. And once again, as a desire to have more interaction with the participants at this event, comes the 2nd edition of the NSS Call-for-Paper. Participation is open to all, and is free of charge. The paper can be submitted either in Italian or English. Authors of the best papers will have a chance to present their work throughout the convention. Awards and/or recognition for best papers will also be given, and papers will be published in the convention's official proceedings. Please refer back to the Cfp page for more info, rules, and deadlines. Entrance at the convention is also free of charge.

PS. tune in again for a peek at my easter present :p 4/19/2006 new learn: wv fileslooking for information about file extensions on the net is not so easy; all u get most of the time is a description of the file -if yr lucky!- but no info on how to open it !!
anyway, back to WV files:
they are compressed audio files. WavPack is used to compress files (lossless, high quality lossy, and hybrid compression modes).
To LISTEN to wv files:
all u need to do is download the winamp plug-in -available for Winamp 2.x and 5.x- from the WavPack webiste. Then extract the dll into the plug-in directory of winamp.
To COMPRESS and DECOMPRESS files:
download the archive containing the programs -available only for Windows - and follow the instructions. There's nothing to it! (once u know wut it is i.e!)

ITALIAN VERSION:
spesso cercare info online su estensioni di file non frutta i risultati aspirati; principalmente come cavolo si apre il file !?!
insomma, se vi trovate davanti un file wv, la prima cosa da sapere è che si tratta di un file audio compresso. WavPack è il programma usato per comprimere de-comprimere i file audio -in modalità lossless, lossy ad alta qualità oppure ibrido.
Per ASCOLTARE i file wv basta scaricare il plug-in per Winamp (disponibile per le versioni 2.x e 5.x) e aggiungere la dll nella cartella dei plug-in di winamp.
Per COMPRIMERE e DE-COMPRIMERE, >scaircare l'archivio (disponibile solo per Windows) che contiene gli eseguibili. Da riga di comando:
WAVPACK [-options] [@]infile[.wav]|- [[@]outfile[.wv]|outpath]
WVUNPACK [-options] [@]infile[.wv] [[@]outfile[.wav]|outpath|-]

 Project Raptor Project Raptor is a new, free graphical tool that enhances productivity and simplifies database development tasks. With Project Raptor, you can browse database objects, run SQL statements and SQL scripts, and edit and debug PL/SQL statements. You can also run any number of provided reports, as well as create and save your own. An Early Adopter release is now available for download for Windows and Linux. Project Raptor can connect to any Oracle Database version 9.2.0.1 and later.
